When a national commission launched an international search for someone to design a U.S. World War I memorial in Washington, D.C., they had to look no further than Joe Weishaar, a 2013 University of Arkansas architecture alumnus. His design, “The Weight of Sacrifice,” will be located just yards from the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. It’s a life-changing project for Weishaar, a graduate of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design; and Honors College.
